Second Skin
A golden-hour fashion editorial for a Lagos atelier's debut collection — silk, wind, and the last twenty minutes of light.
Àṣà Atelier's debut collection was built around movement, so studio strobes felt wrong from the first conversation. We proposed a single-location shoot timed entirely to the golden hour: two models, six looks, and a hard forty-minute window.
Everything was rehearsed in advance — looks in order, positions blocked, a runner for each model — so that when the light arrived we did nothing but shoot. Wind machines are wonderful; the Atlantic breeze is free.
Eight final frames were selected for the lookbook and the launch campaign. Three of them have since been reprinted in two fashion quarterlies.
Amara shoots fabric the way other photographers shoot faces. The collection moved, and somehow the photographs move too.
